Frauscher

The Austrian Frauscher shipyard has long secured its place in boatbuilding history with its design classics. On top of that, the family-run business is regarded as especially innovative – is there a better recipe for success?

Outstanding design, dynamic lines, premium materials, new technologies and the highest level of comfort – only a few shipyards can claim to combine all of these aspects in their boats. Frauscher is one of them – no ifs, ands or buts!

Since 1927, the Frauscher spirit has been not just a household name in the watersports industry, but above all a seal of quality!
In its early days, the yard built sailboats: Olympic dinghies that were sailed successfully by the Austrian team at the 1936 Olympic Games. Until the beginning of the 1970s, all Frauscher boats were made of wood. It was only when founder Engelbert Frauscher handed over the fortunes of the yard on Lake Traun to his two sons Hans and Ernst that other materials came into play. With the ban on combustion engines on Lake Traun – the first of its kind – being decided at almost the same time, the Frauschers produced several hundred electric powerboats made of fiberglass.

Electric boat pioneers

But the Frauscher brothers also remained loyal to sailing. They produced racing sailboats whose quality and performance remain legendary to this day. The model range included the Norwegian Yngling, the Finnish H-Boat, and the German Zugvogel, Trias and Dyas.
At the end of the 1990s, Hans and Michael Frauscher joined the already flourishing company, which was set to experience a new boom with an explicit focus on luxury powerboats.
With Hans and Michael on board, new trends were set in powerboats in general and in electric boats in particular.
In 2001, a fire destroyed the shipyard buildings and more than 60 boats.

Award-winning state-of-the-art models

Today, Frauscher is one of the most award-winning shipyards in Europe. The family business "runs" a model range that is second to none, especially in terms of quality. Luxury models such as the "Demon" or the "Ghost" are unanimously praised by the international trade press. Among boatbuilders betting on electric motors for the future, the Frauscher models are considered "state of the art".
