Azimut

Yachts from Azimut or Azimut-Benetti are, above all … beautiful! And powerful, luxurious and exceptionally stylish inside. The fact that they don't come cheap is something this brand's clientele takes in stride. Because if you've got it, you've got it … you know what we mean!

Azimut Yachts is an Italian shipyard that today, together with Benetti Yacht, is by far the largest manufacturer of superyachts. Azimut was founded in 1969 by the student Paolo Vitelli and is headquartered in Viareggio, Italy.
The production sites of the Azimut-Benetti Group are Avigliana, Fano, Livorno, Savona (all in Italy) and Itajai (Brazil).
Interestingly, today's shipyard initially started out by chartering sailboats and only later developed into a luxury yacht shipyard.

From charter company to megayacht shipyard

In 1970, several renowned yacht brands commissioned the company to distribute their boats in Italy. Azimut then rapidly expanded its activities: alongside sales, the company began designing new yachts. In a joint venture with Amerglass, the AZ 43 "Bali" was designed, a series-produced fiberglass boat that was an immediate success.
Step by step, the company broadened its product range: with the launch of the AZ 32 Targa in 1977, it first scored a big hit at the lower end of the "luxury scale": the boat eventually earned the nickname the "Ford T" of the boating world.

Small boats, large yachts

In the long run, building and selling a "true" luxury yacht appeared more lucrative, with the memorable debut of the 105-foot Azimut "Failaka in 1982 – at the time the largest series-produced yacht made of fiberglass.
In 1985, Azimut took over Benetti, a company that had been building boats since 1873 and had most recently focused on megayachts. Above all, the considerably larger production facilities now available played a decisive role in the continued success of Azimut-Benetti.

From 10 to 100 meters in length

Innovative designs, luxurious and comfortable fittings as well as skillful PR work soon turned the former charter operator into "the" luxury yacht company with worldwide renown.
Azimut Yachts builds luxury motor yachts from 10 to 37 meters in length.
Benetti covers the super- and megayacht segment up to 100 meters in length.
