The flybridge motor yacht (yacht with flybridge)
The boat type for everyone who wants (and needs) to keep an overview in every situation. From the centrally positioned, usually open bridge (flybridge), every trip out on the water is more enjoyable – not to mention how much easier docking becomes.

What is a flybridge yacht?
Flybridge motor yachts can be steered from a raised, open bridge that sits above the boat. This command bridge is usually located centrally on top of the yacht's superstructure, has one or two helms along with all the instruments needed for navigation, and gives the helmsperson a far better view in almost every maneuvering and cruising situation. On larger flybridge yachts, the bridge often also features seating and sun loungers for passengers.
Flybridge yachts: what to look out for
Most motor yachts with a flybridge have a second, sheltered helm station in the cabin, from which the yacht can also be steered in poor weather. Because of their relatively tall superstructure, flybridge yachts are considered susceptible to crosswinds, which can be a drawback during harbor maneuvers. In heavier seas or rougher weather, these comparatively tall yachts tend to roll noticeably. Stabilizers help dampen this motion. Flybridge yachts are among the most sought-after powerboats – on the used boat market too.
Who should buy a flybridge yacht?
Flybridge yachts are exactly right for you if you…
- want to keep the overview — and the perfect view — thanks to the flybridge (fly)
- enjoy looking at things from above
- don't necessarily want to be close to the water
- like to steer in peace on your own while your guests have fun one deck below
