Beaufort scale
Die Beaufortskala auch Windstärkentabelle genannt, dient der Beschreibung der Windgeschwindigkeit. Die Tabelle verfügt über verschiedene Definitionen. Die Zahl Beaufort wird in der Nautik für die Angabe der Windstärke verwendet. Neben der genauen Definition anhand der Windgeschwindigkeiten in km/h oder m/s, kann auch eine etwas lockerere Einteilung verwenden. So steht zum Beispiel 1 Beaufort für "leichter Zug" oder eine "ruhige, gekräuselte See". Beaufort 4, wird dann zum Beispiel als "mässige Brise" mit flächendenkenden Schaumkronen bezeichnet.
