The Windrider 17 was bought new in 2013 and used for four years.
The condition is good and in addition to the standard equipment the following accessories are included:
- Carbon bowsprit with large furling reacher sail
- Very good ploughshare anchor with chain and line
- Set of paddles
- Additional tiller control (in addition to the standard foot control)
- Integrated bilge pump
- Sprayhood and windscreen for the front cockpit
- storage bags
- Mushroom Fan
- GPS bracket
- large front hatch with storage space below
- Hobie rotation limiter for the mast
- Aluminum trailer with new electronics (must be installed)
The boat is ideally sailed with 2 people, but the manufacturer's weight approval goes up to 5 people. It is also one of the most ideal boats of this size for one-handed sailing. Everything can be operated from the aft cockpit.
Originally self import from the USA and new price with accessories was over USD 15,000.
The aluminum trailer is well suited to let the boat into the water, which is comfortable with 2 people. Road approval of the trailer in Switzerland is probably not possible because the trailer was made in the USA. A conversion of the boat mount to a trailer approved in Europe should be possible without much effort.
The boat is currently in Frutigen and has not yet been registered in Switzerland. A buoy place in Spiez would be available and could be rented for around CHF 800 / year.
The boat is about as fast and light as a Hobie 16 catamaran, but much more stable and capsize-proof. It is therefore ideal for use with children or beginners. The hulls are also very robust, so that you can pull the boat very well to the beach. Thanks to the loading option, it is ideal for multi-day camping tours along lakes or along the seashore.
