What does it mean to you to be sailing for Alinghi and defending the America’s Cup?
“This is a magical job. It feels like we are sailing better than ever because we've built up our in-house training conditions to such a high level.”
Alinghi clearly still has what it takes to win. In your opinion, what elements of the team set it apart from the rest?
“We aim high in everything we do. Everybody here brings all their skills and creativity to make sure the team is prepared for anything,.
Can you describe the physical and mental demands that racing at this level has on you?
“The older you get, the harder it is on your body, but as long as you are prepared physically there is no mental problem.”
What do you think will be going through your head when you are lying in bed the night before the Match?
“Nothing but sleeping. I never dream, I never have nightmares, I just sleep. It is my way of staying focused !
Describe your role on the boat and how it could make or break the outcome of a race and essentially affect whether or not Alinghi retains the Cup.
“A grinder alone could never win a race but could very well help lose it if not doing his job properly ”
