What does it mean to you to be sailing for Alinghi and defending the America’s Cup?

“It is a huge opportunity and a unique experience for me.”

Alinghi clearly still has what it takes to win. In your opinion, what elements of the team set it apart from the rest?

“The people. That is what makes the difference in this team. Everybody is experienced and professional.”

Can you describe the physical and mental demands that racing at this level has on you?

“To race at this level you need maturity and humility. I don’t suffer from the stress.”

What do you think will be going through your head when you are lying in bed the night before the Match?

“We have been training since 2004, so the last night before the Match will not be different from other nights. We know we have worked hard and this is why we’ll be calm.”

Describe your role on the boat and how it could make or break the outcome of a race and essentially affect whether or not Alinghi retains the Cup.

“I’m one of the trimmers on board. In my role I work on the boat speed so I need to always do my best to guarantee the best performance possible”.
